Spelling
[edit]Shouldn't we unify the spelling of this and Stanage Edge Then we can create redirects for the alternate spellings.--ObscureFruits (talk) 22:59, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- It was there originally but moved with the comment "moved Stanage Pole to Stanedge Pole: Correcting the spelling as it is marked on OS Maps as Stanedge Pole, even though it is near to Stanage Edge" so looks like the name is correct according to OS. Keith D (talk) 23:17, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Parishes
[edit]"It (Stanedge Pole) was used for centuries as a boundary marker between the parishes of Sheffield, Hathersage and Ecclesfield." I think this might be wrong but can't find a copy of Hunter's source, 'Hallamshire. The History and Topography of the Parish of Sheffield in the County of York.' I suspect that "Ecclesfield" should in fact be "Ecclesall."

Name again
[edit]I've changed the text to read "also known as Stanage Pole". The plaque and base plate on the new (2016) pole call it "Stanage Pole". As noted by others, the OS call it Stanedge but on this occasion I think they are wrong. Mick Knapton (talk) 11:01, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
